28 x 32mm, RIC VI: 9a for Cyzicus where it is rated as scarce, Obverse: laureate bust of Constantius I facing right, FL VAL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, Reverse: Genius standing left, naked but for a chlamys over his left shoulder, a modius on his head, holding a patera from which he is pouring liquor in his right hand and cradling a cornucopia in his left arm, GENIO AVGG ET CAESARVM NN, KB in exergue, the numismatist/dealer from whom I purchased the coin states of it: “Near mint state but grades an overall EF due to some scattered small flan defects. Huge flan, nearly completely silvered and lightly toned with touches of green.” And this was back when EF denoted a very special coin! A gorgeous coin, and very impressive on a flan larger than is usual for even this issue, with a superlative portrait of Constantius, a detailed Genius and devices on the reverse and full and clear legends on both sides, a beauty indeed, and the “flan defects” noted above are no detractors to me, and that’s even under bright light!
