Severus Alexander Denarius, Emperor AD 222-235, struck at Rome AD 231-235, RIC 235, RSC 76, 18 mm, 2.33 gms, Obverse:  laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, Reverse:  Jupiter standing half-left in a pugnacious stance, his head turned right, preparing to hurl his thunderbolt, IOVI PROPVGNATORI, a very lustrous coin with a tiny touch of attractive toning, well centered and struck with an exceptional and sharp portrait of Alexander, a sharp and detailed Jupiter on the reverse, and full and clear legends on both sides, this is a heck of a beautiful coin, just superb in my opinion, graded Choice EF by the numismatist/dealer from whom I purchased it, Asking price:  $385 includes priority shipping and insurance in the U.S., registered to other countries (please see shipping information page)

Severus Alexander Denarius, Emperor AD 222-235, struck at Rome, RIC 180 (from reading  my RIC this coin is RIC 180:  its entry allows for laureate bust right (no drapery), but corrections welcome!) [Reason mentioned is that I've seen this coin as RIC 212], 20 mm, 2.98 gms, Obverse:  laureate bust of Severus Alexander facing right, IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, Reverse:  Victory running left, holding her wreath and palm branch, VICTORIA AVG, a very lustrous coin with just a tiny touch of very light golden toning that is very attractive, a beautifully centered and well struck coin on a large flan with a fantastic portrait of Alexander, a detailed Victory on the reverse, and full and clear legends on both sides, a real beauty and graded EF by the numismatist/dealer from whom I purchased it, Asking price:  $325 includes priority shipping and insurance in the U.S., registered to other countries (see shipping information page)

Severus Alexander AE 27 Marcianopolis

Severus Alexander AE 27, Emperor AD 222-235, Moesia Inferior, Marcianopolis, Obverse:  laureate and draped bust of Severus Alexander facing right, Reverse:  Homonia standing half-left, holding a patera in her right hand and cradling a cornucopia in her left arm, a very lovely and impressive coin with attractive chocolate brown/green patina throughout, a very nice portrait of Alexander and a detailed Homonia on the reverse, full/nearly full legends on both sides.  Graded Nice VF by the numismatist/dealer from whom I purchased it.  I know enough of the Greek alphabet to see the emperor’s name transliterated in Greek and the name of the city on the reverse.  This is a beautiful coin with a lot of detail.  Asking price:  $79 includes priority shipping and insurance in the U.S., registered to other countries (see shipping information page)
