Tetricus I Antoninianus
Tetricus I Antoninianus, Emperor AD 271-274, minted at Cologne AD 272-273, RIC 136?, RSC 170?, Obverse: radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Tetricus I facing right, IMP C TETRICVS PF AVG, but because part of the obverse legend is off the flan I’m doubting this legend and have been going crazy trying to attribute this coin! It looks as if part of one of Tetricus’s names, ESVVIVS, might be before TETRICVS as an abbreviation. So, I’m stymied. Reverse: Spes walking left, holding a flower and lifting the hem of her robe, SPES PVBLICA. This coin has attractive chocolate brown toning and a very nice portrait. The reverse is obviously less well struck. Asking price: $30 includes priority shipping and insurance, registered to other countries (see shipping information page)

Tetricus I, Emperor (of the Gallic Secessionist Empire) AD 271-274, RIC 126, RSC 154, 3.65 gms, Obverse: radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Tetricus I facing right, IMP C TETRICVS PF AVG, Reverse: Salus standing left, feeding a snake rising from an altar, SALVS AVGG, glossy coin darkly and attractively toned, a fantastic portrait of Tetricus I, superior to many I’ve seen of his coins, slightly softly struck but clear Salus on the reverse, full and clear obverse legend, full and clear reverse legend with the exception of the SA in SALVS slightly off the flan, a lovely coin with an exceptional and well struck obverse, Asking price: $90 includes priority shipping and insurance, registered to other countries (please see shipping information page)
