Balbinus Denarius

Balbinus Denarius, Emperor AD 238, minted at Rome, RIC 7, RSC 23, Obverse:  laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Balbinus facing right, IMP C D CAEL BALBINVS AVG, Reverse:  Providentia standing half-left, holding a wand/rod/baton in her right hand and cradling a cornucopia in her left arm, PROVIDENTIA DEORVM, a very lustrous coin well centered and struck with a superb, sharp portrait of Balbinus, a detailed and sharp Providentia on the reverse, and full and clear legends on both sides, a beautiful coin more lustrous than my photos show, and though from my experience what imperial denarius or antoninianus DOESN’T have a high relief portrait to some degree at least, one of their chief attractions for me, this coin has one of especially high relief, a real beauty of an example, Asking price:  $1,385 includes priority shipping and insurance in the U.S., registered to other countries (see shipping information page)
