Hadrian Denarius

Hadrian Denarius, Emperor AD 117-138, minted at Rome AD 123, RIC 80, RSC 1120, 3.40 gms, Obverse:  laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, slight drapery on his left shoulder, IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, Reverse:  Aequitas standing half-left, her head turned left, holding her scales in her right hand and cradling a cornucopia in her left arm, PM TR P COS III, a very lustrous coin with just the slightest hint of subdued and even toning, just a touch and very attractive, a superlative and sharp portrait of Hadrian in very high relief, a sharp and detailed Aequitas on the reverse, and full and clear legends on both sides, a well struck coin and well centered (with the exception of the very first letters of the obverse legend and the CO in COS in the reverse legend slightly off the flan), this is one very, very lovely coin. “Every detail in place, not a trace of wear, as good as these get”, thus and so noted, and graded Mint State, by the numismatist/dealer from whom I purchased it (my photography, especially of the reverse, does not do the coin justice), a beauty indeed, Asking price:  $890 includes priority shipping and insurance in the U.S., registered to other countries (see shipping information page)
